About Us
The Community Wellness Council of the Bellmores & Merricks, Inc., is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization. The council was originally instituted by the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District board of Education in February 1996 in response to a survey of students regarding their drug and alcohol use. While the Bellmore-Merrick students’ behaviors, according to the survey, very much paralled those of students throughout Nassau County, the board of education and parent leadership felt strongly that our communities must develop a united front to prevent substance abuse.
